Greyship Daviz, the powerhouse funk-rock band of the 1970’s was a very popular self contained act from Columbus, Oh who performed locally and toured nationally, laying down hard driving funk and R&B grooves topped off with silky smooth and powerful vocals.
During the life of the band (1975-1982), Greyship Daviz was the opening act for such headliners as Parliament Funkadelic, Bootsy Collins, Sister Sledge and the Fatback Band.
Influenced by such diverse groups as Mothers Finest, Earth, Wind and Fire, and the O’jays, the band recognized the emergence of their own sound and began writing and recording original material. Never realizing their own recording contract, a few of their songs have been played extensively on the internet and in DJ booths around the world.
Oh! And by the way. Just in case you don't know by now, and for those who think they do. Greyship Daviz has never had a member with the name Davis.
Whenever Greyship Daviz performed their unique style of funk raising the roof, as they were known to do, the word quickly spread making that venue the place to be. Traveling with their own sound and lighting engineers, and wearing face paint and stylish flamboyant outfits, the band was able to provide their fans and partygoers with a funky original sound and exciting stage performances that became and still remain the talk of myth and legend.
